Stephen Heath


Stephen has more than 30 years experience in providing specialist legal advice in the areas of superannuation, financial services, taxation and commercial advice.

He is widely recognised as one of Australia’s foremost experts on superannuation and taxation, and as such has been listed in the prestigious Best Lawyers Australia* publication which identifies the nation’s outstanding legal practitioners, as well as in Doyles Guide as a 'preeminent' Taxation Lawyer. Additionally, in 2017 and 2021 he was recognised as Adelaide’s Tax Lawyer of the Year*, and in 2019 Adelaide's Superannuation Lawyer of the Year* (Best Lawyers in Australia).

Stephen advises on superannuation, including public offer, corporate and self-managed superannuation funds. He provides advice to clients regarding income tax, capital gains tax, stamp duty, payroll tax, land tax and also assists with taxation disputes.

His expertise extends to advising clients in regard to trusts and business structuring, including the purchase and sale of business entities and other commercial transactions.

Stephen is active in the industry, including via his longstanding and integral involvement with the Tax Institute. Stephen sat on the Tax Institute National Council from 2012-2018 and on the SA State Council for over 10 years up to 2018.  In 2021 he was awarded Life Membership of the Tax Institute of Australia, a significant honour in recognition of Stephen’s tireless contribution, as a member, volunteer and committee member, including as a director of the National Council and a relentless supporter of many professional development and educational programs.
