Olivia Brownsey


Olivia practices across the firm’s Business and Commercial team with a strong focus on Aboriginal Organisations, Corporate Governance and Not-for-Profit organisations.

She has extensive experience working with Aboriginal Organisations including CATSI Act Corporations and Registered Native Title Body Corporates (RNTBCs). Having practiced in Native Title and Aboriginal Corporate Governance and post-Native Title community development, Olivia regularly assists clients with registration, prepares constitutions, drafts and reviews contracts, advises on corporate governance, compliance, and can also assist with grant applications.

Whilst Olivia has experience working with Aboriginal Organisations, she has a broad skill set and enjoys working with Not-for-Profits and social enterprises along with a range of commercial matters including Intellectual Property and Defamation.

Prior to joining Wallmans, Olivia was a legal officer at Legal Services Commission SA. This role provided her with a broad range of knowledge in many areas of the law including civil disputes, minor criminal matters and all aspects of family law. She assisted in the development and implementation of a holistic health justice partnership called Safe & Well Kids.

Olivia has developed methods to communicate in an accessible way for clients as a result of her extensive experience working with a diverse range of people from differing socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. She frequently works with interpreters and support persons to ensure clients receive advice in a way that best suits their needs.

Olivia, a descendant of the Ngarrindjeri people, is passionate about empowering Indigenous communities to thrive by supporting self-determination, particularly in a business context. She is skilled at identifying legal issues and providing information and practical tailored advice whilst building trust and developing meaningful client relationships.
