Nadia Blake


Nadia has been practising in insurance and commercial litigation in jurisdictions throughout Australia for almost 18 years.

She has acted for Australia’s largest insurers, providing complex indemnity advice and acting on behalf of their insured parties in a wide variety of industries including building and construction, mining, manufacturing, professional services, sport and recreation, education, medical services and Local Government. She has vast experience providing advice to not-for-profits, schools, church bodies, government agencies and corporates in relation to civil liability claims, including sensitive claims both in South Australia and New South Wales.

Nadia’s areas of speciality include public and products liability, dangerous sporting and recreational activities, discrimination and defamation, construction design failures, complex contractual disputes, professional indemnity, breaches of directors and officers duties, breaches of the Consumer Law and medical negligence.

She has provided advice and acted on behalf of insurers and insured parties in relation to catastrophic bushfire claims (involving both personal injury and property damage) and a number of catastrophic injury and death claims. Nadia provides specialist advice and representation to the Local Government Mutual Liability Scheme regarding civil liability claims concerning South Australian Councils and Local Government entities.

Nadia has extensive experience working with insured parties and private clients to achieve the most reasonable commercial outcomes or objectives which are tailored to address commercially sensitive or reputational issues and other interests that are important to her clients. She has extensive experience in all forms of alternative dispute resolution, in addition to appearing and instructing counsel in jurisdictions throughout Australia.

Nadia is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has held positions on boards for not-for-profits for over 10 years, currently serving as a director on the board of the South Australian Little Athletics Association.
