Jenny Paglia

Jenny is a member of the firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution section, with experience and expertise across commercial litigation, mercantile and insolvency and intellectual property (IP).

Jenny is a key member of our Mercantile and Insolvency practice assisting with the provision of advice to liquidators, debt purchasers and mercantile agencies in relation to litigious matters including winding up applications, bankruptcy proceedings, advice and preparation of documents relating to debt recovery.

In a commercial litigation capacity, Jenny assists with the provision of specialist advice and representation for commercial clients. Jenny has experience in assisting with a complex international manufacturing arbitration, where she was able to utilise specific expertise in electronic discovery, and worked with eDiscovery platforms to manage large volumes of documents.

Jenny also advises across all aspects of IP law, with a focus on trade mark and copyright. She advises clients on trade mark registrations, the examination process, trade mark oppositions (including removal applications) and IP infringement proceedings. She routinely undertakes Australian and worldwide trade mark searches and advises clients on matters to consider when creating a brand or logo with the intention to register as a trade mark. Her experience in this area encompasses assisting companies in identification and protection of IP and includes bringing and defending claims of misleading and deceptive conduct, or where a brand experiences passing off of their product or service. Her experience extends to digital and social media with a focus on defamation and related disputes.

Prior to practising exclusively as a lawyer, Jenny worked at Wallmans since 2013, as the firm's Research Manager.

In 2018 Jenny presented at the Law via the Internet Conference in Florence, Italy on the topic of policy issues in the publication of case law. Her article on this topic, as well as an article she co-authored on legal opinions, were both nominated as finalists for Article of the Year in the Law Society of South Australia’s Bulletin (2019).

As well as a degree in Law (Flinders University) and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (Law Society of SA), Jenny has a Bachelor of Education from the University of South Australia.
