Jenny is a key member of the firm's Commercial and Corporate practice and Litigation section.
As part of our Commercial practice, Jenny's area of specialisation is intellectual property (IP). Jenny advises across all aspects of IP law, with a particular focus on trade mark and copyright. She undertakes Australian and worldwide trade mark searches and advises clients on matters to consider when creating a brand or logo. Her experience in this area encompasses assisting companies in identification and protection of IP and includes bringing and defending claims of misleading and deceptive conduct, or where a brand experiences passing off of their product or service. Her experience extends to digital and social media with a particular focus on defamation and related disputes and litigation.
Jenny also provides advice on privacy (including GDPR), data collection, protection, breach and legislative compliance to banks, credit unions, hospitality and tourism organisations, health and research sectors. She has an interest in data breach reporting and associated compliance.
In a commercial litigation capacity, Jenny assists with the provision of specialist advice for commercial clients across the transport and manufacturing sectors. Jenny provides support in complex litigation proceedings. Her recent experience has included assisting with a complex international manufacturing arbitration. In this regard, Jenny was able to utilise specific expertise in electronic discovery, and worked with eDiscovery platforms to manage large volumes of discovery documents.
Prior to practising exclusively as a lawyer, Jenny worked at Wallmans as the firm's Research Manager. In 2018 Jenny attended the ‘Law via the Internet’ conference in Florence, Italy, where she presented on the topic of policy issues in the publication of case law. Her article on this topic, as well as an article she co-authored on legal opinions, were both nominated as finalists for Article of the Year in the Law Society of South Australia’s Bulletin (2019).
As well as a degree in Law (Flinders University) and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (Law Society of SA), Jenny has a Bachelor of Education from the University of South Australia.
